Charles Abrams

Charles Abrams is a fourth-year student at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, planning to pursue residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation upon graduation this coming May, with special interests in the rehabilitation of spinal cord injury, sports, and pain medicine. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology & Health from the University of Connecticut. His current research centers on predictive factors of successful back surgery, as well as pain and patient satisfaction. Since 2017, Charles has competed in powerlifting, achieving best lifts of a 485 lb squat, 335 lb bench press, and 585 lb deadlift at a bodyweight of 231 lbs. Drawing from his years under the bar and his foundation in exercise physiology, Charles is committed to bringing the principles of strength, movement, and progressive training into medical practice to improve recovery and quality of life for his patients.
