Online or remote coaching is a proven methodology for providing a high-quality coaching service. Especially with the use of technology such as the Barbell Medicine mobile app, email, and sharing videos, online strength coaching has been highly effective for thousands of our clients.
You will work with your Coach so that they build a custom program that is always centered on your goals and preferences towards achieving your strength and conditioning goals. Your Coach will provide feedback on your training sessions, any movement videos you send to them, and keep track of things continually to make sure you are achieving your goals and getting what you want out of the engagement.
Your Coach in an online coaching service will provide feedback on the results that you share with them, including using videos to show your form during specific exercises and lifts. Contrast that with an in-person coach that is physically situated with you during a training session that can offer feedback on what they are directly observing at the time.
Your Barbell Medicine Coach will first discuss your goals, preferences, and resources to customize a training plan that is right for you. You will execute your training sessions with a weekly program that your Coach develops for you and is delivered on our mobile app or a spreadsheet (your preference).
You will provide feedback to your Coach weekly to measure results, understand any issues, and potentially make changes for the new week ahead. You will also have the opportunity to share videos of your exercises to get feedback.
Online coaching has become extremely popular for several reasons, one of the main ones is the flexibility and freedom to train whenever best fits your schedule and not have to coordinate with meeting a coach in-person. The reality is that there is little reason to need a coach to be physically with you. One of the key things a coach looks for is to understand how you’re moving and to get feedback regarding your training sessions. Both of these important factors are easily accomplished online via the Barbell Medicine App.
What also makes online coaching worthwhile is that it can cost much less than meeting a coach in-person. So, you can get the top-quality coaching from coaches that are highly experienced and that may not even be available where you live. Finally, unless you’re someone that has the knowledge, motivation, and skills to be self-coached, online coaching from a highly experienced and skilled coach can be a tremendous investment in your health and performance.
You want to get stronger and develop better conditioning. That desire is backed with a mountain of evidence that not only will more strength and fitness help with your pursuits, but they also will lead to significantly different health and quality of life outcomes. We believe that having access to the latest exercise & health science along with careful coaching from Barbell Medicine is one of the best investments you can make in your life.
This is our universal offering for everyone, regardless of age, gender, capabilities, or goals. It is custom designed specifically for your needs.
We coach people who have little or no experience with exercise all the way through athletes who compete at the national and international levels of competition.
We also work with multi-sports enthusiasts & athletes, and endurance athletes who want to incorporate strength training. Many of our clients have aesthetic, endurance, fitness, and health-related goals. We train teenagers through adults into their 90s, healthy through infirm. You will be in good hands with us.
We match trainees with Coaches based on background, goals, and availability. If there’s a specific Coach you have in mind, we can discuss if that’s possible.
You will be training each week on your own with the customized plan that your Coach has developed for you.
This will depend on several factors such as your goals, preferences, and what capabilities you currently have access to at home or any other facilities.
This will depend on your goals, your current baseline, and the plan that you and your Coach agree on and develop. The typical coaching cadence is to check in with each other weekly, so that’s the unit of time that is useful to understand progress and making sure your training is on track towards your goals.
One of the core elements of our coaching offerings is to customize the program to exactly what you want. If for some reason your Coach didn’t get a program right, there are opportunities at every stage to give feedback to ensure the recommendations are going to suit all of your goals, capabilities, and preferences. We don’t prescribe one-size-fits-all approach to our coaching and you can expect to get a high-quality program that is ready for you to execute.
Barbell Medicine provides three different tiers of coaching services. The core offering is a Programming only service that covers all of your strength and conditioning needs. There is also a Nutrition only service that focuses on coaching you through diet and weight management. Finally, we have a Combined offering that provides both fitness and nutrition coaching so that you have everything covered. Programming only starts at $233/month, Nutrition only starts at $170/month, and Combined Coaching starts at $340/month. You can see the details here on our Coaching offering page.
First, it’s useful to note that Barbell Medicine has coaching clients that are being continually coached for many years. So, when and whether coaching ends is a personal choice based on your goals. Many clients choose to continue to be actively coached by us whether they have busy lives and don’t want to be self-coached. They could also be competitive athletes that rely on our experience to keep them developing and performing at their best.
Clients can choose to become self-coached when their goals or life circumstances change. We strive to provide solid educating during the coaching process so that our clients learn and understanding the dynamics involved in meeting their coaching goals. So, it’s pretty common that after coaching ends for a client, they start programming themselves by using pre-built programs from the large Barbell Medicine Training Program library.
